20th January 2025 - The Minister for Finance invites applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill roles on the Board of the Strategic Banking Corporation of Ireland (SBCI) and contribute to the development of the SBCI.
Essential
Candidates must demonstrate in their application evidence of experience at an appropriately senior level in one or more of the following areas:
• formulating clear strategic direction
• banking and finance sector with SME lending and/or operations expertise.
• public policy, economic development, climate action, governance, innovation, SME lending or related fields.
• development of solutions that support economic growth and financial stability.
• international and retail banking skills, including experience and expertise in portfolio-based lending, guarantee structures and risk management
• oversight of developing and managing financial products tailored to diverse client needs
• strong accounting skills, ideally with a professional qualification from one of the professional accountancy bodies, and ability to analyse financial statements of bank and non-bank financial institutions
• innovation and digital transformation within financial services.
Desirable
• knowledge and experience of EU institutions, their functions and support mechanisms, particularly those available to National Promotional Institutions
• knowledge of guarantee instruments and their applications across Europe.
• experience in leveraging guarantee instruments to mitigate risks and enhance credit availability
• sectoral knowledge, experience and expertise in financing/investing in energy efficiency projects and/or climate action-related lending
• knowledge of Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles.
